I appreciate you taking the time to check out my welcoming fall home tour 2020. If you’re visiting for the first time from The Aspiring Home, welcome, and thanks for stopping by. There’s so much inspiration in her home, especially her gorgeous dining room. She uses color and texture so well.
This year I’m bringing you a welcoming fall home tour featuring lots of traditional orange, yellow and green décor. I decided to reuse most of my décor from last year, but I did add a few new pieces. If you would like to check out last year’s post, you can find it here. Although a lot of décor is the same, I styled them quite differently this year.
Did I say that fall is my favorite time of the year? Well, it’s because I love the cooler temperatures and the coziness of fall. I also love to layer cozy pillows and throw blankets in my living areas. Of course, the pops of fall color are always welcomed in my home.
Fall Home Tour – Dining Room
As you can see from my dining room, I always start with a neutral base. Using neutrals as a starting point is my favorite way of decorating and styling my home. I’m able to easily switch up my décor to fall using this approach.
As you can see, I removed all of the spring/summer florals, and I added lots of large black pieces to fill up space on my sideboard. The Joshua vase is one of my favorite pieces from Pottery Barn, and I love filling it with seasonal stems. In addition to the vase, I’m also loving this large black bowl filled with this gorgeous mango wooden bead garland.
As with the sideboard, I stuck to the black theme with these beautiful pillar lanterns. I found these lanterns online at Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines. Instead of a traditional centerpiece, I layered in some stems around these lanterns to create more texture and fall color. This beautiful table runner brings the entire table together while not being too fussy.
Per usual, I stuck to my traditional white dinnerware and serving platters. Of course, I added a touch of gold with the flatware to elevate this look. Just because your dinnerware is simple, doesn’t mean you can’t jazz up your space by layering in textures, fall color, and varying heights with your tablescape. I think I was able to achieve that with this fall tablescape.
Welcoming and Inviting Family Room
As we move on into the family room, you will see more neutrals with pops of color. By color, I mean orange, yellow, and green. I typically decorate with green for every season, so fall is no exception. You will find green vases throughout the family room, and it’s very intentional. Green is my favorite color, and it really shows throughout my home.
This console table always features an arrangement of stems for every season. For fall, I stuck with my favorite amber bottles that I purchased from Target and Homegoods last year. Together with these newly added green vases, this collection of fall foliage and amber bottles creates the perfect fall vibe. The fall colors in the stems mirror the colors throughout the space.
What is fall without pumpkins? Well, I sprinkled a few wooden and glass pumpkins throughout the space since they truly represent fall. The fall colors are great; however, pumpkins are a must when displaying fall décor.
This is the second time that I styled my coffee table for this fall home tour. As a matter of fact, I initially used some new amber vases that I purchased from At Home. Of course, I moved those somewhere else and decided to use this hyacinth tray and this gorgeous mango wood vase. It wouldn’t be fall décor without a bowl filled with fall leaves and pine cones.
In like manner, I layered in some new pillows and throw blankets to cozy up my space a little more. These neutral pillows are from Busa Designs and Studio McGee for Target, and they pair well with green pillow also from Target.
The new addition to the family room is this gorgeous black cabinet from Crate and Barrel. I purchased it a couple of months ago, and I absolutely love it. It is a very unique piece of furniture, and it holds all of my existing (and a few new) vases and belly baskets. Moreover, it is the perfect piece to fit in space and it has my traditional black and white décor with a pop of fall color.
Kitchen Color Reveal
Now, I’ve waited for the fall home tour for me to reveal the new color of my kitchen island. I have been waiting for months to get the cabinets painted, so I decided to switch up the color from a brighter green to this cool muted green. I absolutely love this color, and I was inspired by the Sherwin Williams x Pottery Barn collaboration. The color is Pewter Green, and it’s all the rave this fall.
I kept the kitchen island pretty simple with this amber vase filled with greenery and colorful stems. The wooden bowl boasts some faux apples for color and contrast.
I also added a few more pieces to the countertops but overall it’s pretty much the same. The rich wood tones are always a staple in my home, and I love how it stands out against the white cabinets.
Let’s talk about another new addition this year. I added the banquette in the spring, and it has been one of the favorite places to decorate. The pillows literally change on a weekly basis. If you don’t believe me, go check out my Instagram feed here.
This fall, I wanted to add color, and these rich pillows from Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn were just what I was looking for. I could have gone for more neutral pillows; however, the cushions were the neutral base that I needed.
I swapped out my bar stools with these black wishbone chairs from Poly and Bark. Again, I love the black accents with neutral tones.
Fall Home Tour – Mudroom
In addition to the main areas of my home, I recently gave my mudroom a refresh. I added this new washable rug from Ruggable since this space gets lots of use.
I hope I’ve inspired you with my use of traditional fall colors and amber vases/jars for this fall home tour. Moreover, I hope you are just as excited about fall as I am.
Now, head over to Savvy Apron – she’s welcoming in fall in such an awesome way. There’s so much inspiration in her home, especially her gorgeous dining room.

Janice, I absolutely love your style! It’s funny, I had been eyeing those same lanterns from Magnolia, and the other day, I was also ogling a black cabinet that looks almost exactly like yours.
