Last week was all about wall art and floating shelves. Now that I have almost everything to pull this space together, I thought I would go ahead and organize the room. The previous organization was basically a toy chest and one nightstand. To say the least, the storage was not very functional and there were no real storage solutions in place.
One of the goals when looking for organizing solutions for my daughter’s Boho bedroom was to contain as much as possible using items that match the theme. Of course, all Boho spaces need rattan, woven, and water hyacinth baskets. It was so easy to source baskets that fit the Boho theme.
As you probably know, I am a fan of baskets and bins when organizing spaces within my home. For my daughter’s bedroom, I didn’t want them to all match, so I looked for baskets and bins in a similar color palette. This style of organizing compliments the Boho vibe of the room and provides the textures needed to bring this space to life.
Organizing Solutions for Toys
The organizing solutions were primarily for toy storage. Previously, we housed a lot of toys in her bedroom. Of course, this soon became an issue when my daughter would pull out almost every toy and not put them back. To remedy that problem, I had her remove all of the toys from her bedroom. I then explained to her that she could only bring back a small number of toys. She agreed as long she could keep most of her dolls.
The organizing solution I chose for her dolls and the grooming items were these large milk bins from Target. They are the perfect size for her bookshelf.
Nightstand Storage
The two nightstands flanking the bed has two small drawers. I wanted to provide some type of organization within these drawers for smaller items that my daughter love and cherishes.
Under the nightstands are these woven baskets I ordered from West Elm. These bins house her Beany Boo collection and some smaller toys.
On top of the nightstands are a couple of catchall containers. I love that she can place her glasses on the coral catchall without misplacing them daily. I also placed her favorite rock in the gold catchall so she can admire her beautiful artwork.
Desk Organization
One of my favorite places to organize was her desk. I wanted to provide a space that she could write in her journal, color, draw, or use her iPad. When looking for organizing solutions for her desk, I tried to think of all the ways I can contain her pencils, journal, and notebook. She loves writing and drawing, so this space is perfect to keep her busy this summer.
Organizing drawers is one of my favorite things to do. I know…crazy right! I placed the white bins from the Container Store in each drawer to contain her writing journal, books, and some manipulative toys that she can easily have access to. Of course, I had to place the small pieces into a container prior to placing them into the drawers. This is one of my favorite ways to organize smaller items.
My daughter likes to keep her artwork from home and school, so I found these amazing boxes from Pottery Barn Teen to store her masterpieces.
Now that the bedroom is organized, I will finish styling the additional decor. I thought I would give you a sneak peek of her full desk. It’s not complete; however, I think I created the Boho look I was going for. There are a few more pieces that I’m waiting to get, so please come back next week for the reveal.
