I am super excited to participate in my first ever One Room Challenge! This challenge is perfect now that the stay at home order is in place. Unlike two months ago, I now have plenty of time to plan and execute this challenge. I’ve accepted the challenge for a bedroom makeover.
If you’re unfamiliar with the One Room Challenge, it’s a biannual event that challenges bloggers and Instagram influencers to makeover a space in eight weeks. I signed up as a guest participant, and I am super excited to transform my daughter’s bedroom completely. The goal of the challenge is to post updates on my blog every Thursday for eight weeks, so please make sure to subscribe for email updates weekly.
I have plans this year to begin the transformation of the second floor of my home, and my daughter’s bedroom is the first space on the list. If you are new to my blog, I have been perfecting my builder grade home over the past year. I have completed the first floor (except for my kids’ playroom), and I am super excited to give my home a uniform aesthetic with pops of color.
If you’re followed me on Instagram, then you already have seen the first draft of the plans for my daughter’s bedroom. Of course, I’ve made some changes based on her input and my desire to give her a fun, cohesive space.
My Overall Goals for the Bedroom Transformation:
Goal #1: Declutter her bedroom
Goal #2: Pair down her toy collection
Goal #3: Give her a “big girl” bedroom
Goal #4: Create a space that can adapt as she gets older
Now that I have publically stated my goals for this bedroom transformation, let the fun begin. So, let’s first start by showing some before pictures of my daughter’s bedroom.
Before Pictures
As you can see, my initial attempt was a playful space that my daughter could sleep and play without it being too fussy. In fact, my daughter would pull out all of her toys and leave them in the middle of the floor.
The overall color palette was all shades of pink, which is her favorite color. Of course, the walls are flat white paint, and we all know that it doesn’t work well small with children.
The inspiration for her new bedroom makeover came from the below Pinterest photos.
If you’ve noticed by now, the overall design plan for her bedroom is modern Boho chic. I’ve fallen in love with the Boho style lately, and I think this style reflects my daughter’s personality perfectly. She’s fun, girly and sassy! Therefore, I plan to create a space that she can grow into and create lasting, beautiful memories.
Mood Board – Design Plan
Please see below my mood board for her bedroom transformation:
I’m still pulling together the remaining design elements, so please come back every Thursday to see the progress. Over the coming weeks, I will post sneak peeks on my Instagram account. So click here to follow along with me during the transformation. You can also subscribe to my blog here to get notification of new posts via email.
The next blog will be all about paint, trim, and wallcoverings, so you don’t want to miss out on the fun.
Also, don’t forget to check out what the featured designers and guest participants are up to from week to week. I promise you will be inspired and hopefully ready to transform a space in your home.
