In this blog post, I am discussing how I reorganized the linen closets in my master bathroom, as well as sharing some tips and ideas. I really enjoy organizing spaces in my home and making them look pretty, so it was time for a change in my master bathroom.

This closet also has wire shelving and has not been updated with built-ins. Since it’s small and functional, I didn’t feel the need to invest in a custom linen closets Perhaps in the future I will revisit that, but for now these wire shelves are more than adequate!
My initial organization within this linen closet was a mix of plastic baskets and bins. In fact, I had started organizing my master bath using the Y-weave bins from Target. After I completed my pantry (see blog post here), I knew I wanted to make my linen closet look pretty and functional. I quickly assessed my existing bins and baskets, and I came up with the decision to move everything from the master bath to the guest bath room. This was a win-win for me since the kids primarily use that bathroom, and the plastic bins would be ideal for them.
For this makeover, I wasn’t a budget conscious as in the previous linen closet makeover, so I increased my budget and went online shopping at The Container Store and Target. The Container Store was having another sale on the water hyacinth baskets, so I quickly made my online purchase. I also shopped my home for additional items to perfect the space.
Below, I will walk you through the organization of my master bathroom linen closet, and provide some tips on how to not only make your linen closet functional, but how to make it look pretty! Again, I know that pretty, organized spaces are easy for me to maintain!
As you can see from the initial photo, I had a system in place; however I wanted something a little bit nicer for the master bathroom. I love opening the door, and seeing a perfectly organized space on a daily basis. It’s like my little slice of heaven in a cluttered world!
Since I had used the water hyacinth baskets from The Container Store in my pantry, I knew these would be a winner. I actually brought a few upstairs to assess the overall look and feel I was going for prior to purchasing any of the items.
My steps are achieving an organized, visually appealing master bathroom linen closet are:
Step 1 – Remove Everything
My first step was to remove everything from the space. This allowed me to place my existing bins from my pantry into the closet, and assess their look and fit. Once the layout was established, I wanted to move forward with the next step which was removing the white plastic binds from my linen closet.
Step 2 – Assess Your Current Items
Once I knew the baskets and bins would fit the layout of my linen closet, I assessed the existing contents of the linen closet. I realized pretty quickly that I had too many white towels and too many sets of sheets. Once I paired down my previously behemoth collection of towels and sheets, I could then determine the exact amount of bins and baskets I needed to contain my towels, sheets and blankets.
Step 3 – Use Bins, Baskets, Trays and Jars
In this space, the water hyacinth bins, baskets and wire baskets were the perfect way to contain the towels, sheets, and blankets. I opted for the large water hyacinth totes from Target as my hampers. I used one for lights and darks. I typically keep my
I loved the idea of the water hyacinth tray from The Container Store to store my bath essentials. The apothecary jars were repurposed from my kitchen. I purchased a large number of them for a candy station a few years ago, and they were sitting in a bin (in my pantry). The wire bins were either a HomeGoods or The Container store purchases from a couple of years ago.
Step 4 – Label everything
Now that I’m committed to maintaining a highly organized home, I am labeling every space that I re-organize.
I found these black 2×3 inch chalkboard tags on Amazon, and I knew they would be perfect for hanging on the bins. They are very sturdy and the look great! I used my DYMO Desktop Label Maker from Amazon to create the labels, and I affixed them to the chalkboard tags. The round chalkboard labels were a Michaels find some years ago.
So there you have it – pretty and practical ways to organize your master bath linen closet. I really hope that these tips combined with a peek in my linen closet have inspired you and take on your own linen closet makeover.
