Hello friends! We took a break to stand in solidarity over the racial injustice and murders of George Floyd and the many other victims of police brutality and racism. Last week was a very emotional time for my family, and I, and I was not in the right headspace to blog about the challenge.
I’m excited to share the One Room Challenge: Week 6 wall art and floating shelves in my daughter’s bedroom. If you missed the first through the fourth weeks (design plan, painting, wallpaper, furniture, and lighting), you can go check them out here, here, here and here. Last week, I showed you the lighting that was purchased for this space. Now that she has furniture and lighting, we’re almost at the finish line. I’m very pleased with the look so far, and it’s time to put up wall art and floating shelves.
When I planned out this space, I knew I wanted custom framed art for the walls. I searched many online websites for art; however, I settled on digital art from Etsy.
Custom Framing
Because I planned to do custom framing, I knew I had to save money on digital art. I was initially going to use Framebridge for the wall art framing; however, their shipping timeframes were extended due to COVID-19. They even offered me a 20% discount. Because I couldn’t guarantee their framed wall art would arrive on time, I decided to go with Level Frames. I found them on Instagram, and their delivery was extremely fast. It took less than two weeks to get back prints delivered. The quality is great, and I love that I was able to upload my digital prints for a quicker turnaround. I was able to customize everything to include frame size, color, mat size, and glass types. The website was so easy to use, and I was able to quickly order my framed wall art.
Wall Art Selections
The first wall art that I chose were these coral geometric prints. I love the combination of chevrons and the sphere. This wall art was sold as a trio on Etsy, and it was very inexpensive. They are a perfect trio for this long wall, and they fill the space so beautifully.
In addition to the trio, I also purchased similar digital art pieces that coordinate well with the others. I decided on a smaller frame for this wall art, so I can add other pieces of wall art over time. Both of the pieces will flank the gold bookshelf and are the perfect shade of gold.
Floating Shelves
If you recall from the initial design, I was planning to use the gold floating shelves from CB2. Of course, I was perusing Pinterest when the idea of floating shelves came about. The floating shelves give me the option to style additional artwork and décor pieces over the desk.
I’ve always loved the look of floating shelves for children’s books; however, using them to style wall art and girly décor is such a clever way to keep this space fresh. My daughter loves cute pink décor, so these shelves will be filled with her favorite pieces. You’ll have to come back for the final reveal to see how I styled these Kate and Laurel Levie decorative wall shelves.
I customized a special Boho name sign on Etsy, and I absolutely love it. I was able to customize the color of the tassels as well as the color of her name. I can’t recommend this Etsy shop (S+H Crafthouse) enough. The name sign is well crafted and was delivered very quickly. It’s the perfect piece for the top floating shelf.
I also had this cute wall art framed for the top floating shelf. It’s a great quote that I purchased via digital download from Etsy as well. It perfectly expresses my love for my daughter, and I want her to know that every day. It’s pink and sparkly, so she loves it as well.
A Special Piece of Wall Art
Ever since I showed my daughter the inspiration for her modern Boho bedroom, she asked for a guitar. Well, I broke down a purchased this Loog children’s guitar and wall hanger. As she gets older, I will purchase a larger guitar. I hope this will encourage her to take an interest in playing the guitar.
We’re getting down to the last few weeks, and I’m excited to style all of the accessories and organize her space. Next week, I will highlight how I organize her bedroom. I hope you will come back and check it out.
