I wrapped up the planning desk area outside of my kitchen, so now it is time to walk through my recent kitchen organization and storage project. If you have not already seen my post on how I organized my planning desk, please check out the post here.
My previous kitchen organization was lacking a few solutions; therefore, I decided to create a solution that could be easily sustained.
Kitchen Organization Rules
Now, let’s move on and talk about how to organize the kitchen and create some practical organizing solutions for your family. I recommend a few things to get started:
- Clear out and purge the entire space
- Measure space and purchase kitchen storage solutions
- Utilize all available space
To kick off this tour, let’s start with the area where I keep all of my coffee, tea, and the supplies needed to create my yummy coffee and tea.
Tea and Coffee Storage
I love a lazy susan to keep all of my Keto/Bulletproof coffee, tea, and regular coffee supplies. Even though I primarily use K-cups, I also have the OXO containers to store my ground coffee. This little pull out bin is excellent for easy access.
Of course, I am a white dinnerware fanatic! I do have some festive coffee mugs, but my go-to is these white coffee mugs. Do not forget about the teapot; it is white too. Visually, your cabinets appear more organized when you stick to a similar color palette.
Who doesn’t love a drawer full of tea? I am a coffee and tea lover, so this whole section makes me happy. These bamboo stacking drawer organizers are one of my favorite kitchen organization solutions. They are the perfect size for my tea bags and accessories. Additionally, I also store some tea accessories and water enhancers in these bamboo organizers.
Of course, an organizing fanatic must contain the Stevia in these little glass sugar packet holders.
If you’re wondering where my K-cups are, well, here they are. I have the majority of them stored in this plastic container. My extra teabags are stored in this acrylic bin. It has eight compartments and is perfect for my assorted teas. In the back, you see that same pull out bin, which holds my mini NutriBullet.
At the very bottom are two perfectly sized bins that hold the rest of my tea essentials and my protein powder.
Kitchen Organization for Kids’ Dinnerware
Let’s move on over to the kids’ and meal prep section of the kitchen organization. My kids have a lot of lunch prep items, so I had to corral these items in one location. Previously, they were stored throughout the kitchen.
These deep kitchen bins are the best option for storing lunch bags, cups, and stainless steel lunch containers. In addition to the lunch containers, the kids also have a lot of water bottles. The water bottle holder from The Container Store is my go-to for containing the growing water bottles because they can be stacked.
If you’ve seen my pantry or master bath linen closet, then you know I’m a fan of these water hyacinth baskets. I am using these to store additional water bottles, kids’ dinnerware, lunch bags, and meal prep containers. This water hyacinth hinged lid box is a great way to store kitchen tools that I don’t use regularly.
Tupperware Drawer Organization
Let’s be honest; we all have things in our homes that we don’t use. I am guilty of this, and it was time to start the purge. This area of my kitchen was somewhat organized; however, I had a ton of plastic containers that were missing lids. I decided to get rid of the plastic food storage containers, and I opted for these amazing glass containers.
These are excellent quality, and I highly recommend them. Again, I used these deep bins to store all of the glass food storage containers and lids.
Dish Towel Storage
Who else has a ton of dish towels? That would be me too! I purged a lot of them, and I paired it down to about a dozen or so dish towels. Of course, I used the Marie Kondo file folding method to organize the towels, and I grouped them by style and color.
All of these containers are the Linus kitchen bins from The Container Store.
Knife Storage
I keep all of my knives in this drawer. Previously, I had them in several drawers, but I consolidated them into one drawer. I’m using these bamboo knife docks to contain all of my knives.
Spice Cabinet Organization and Storage
I organized my spice cabinet over a year ago. There was not too much tweaking this time around, so this system is working very well for me. I love these lazy susans for organizing my oils and spices. In addition, these white bins are excellent for storing baking supplies and other spices that are not used often.
Kitchen Utensil Storage
The next set of drawers contains some of my kitchen utensils, spoons, and forks. I love that everything has a place. To further illustrate my previous point, purging definitely helps to ensure that duplicates items are removed. I recommend only keeping the items that you are likely to use on a regular basis.
This drawer is where I keep a lot of my larger utensils. Again, these stackable bamboo organizers are perfect for this drawer. They fit the drawer space exceptionally well.
Dinnerware Organization
As I stated earlier, I have all white dinnerware. I love that it makes organizing so easy. These cabinet shelves are used to create more vertical space for my dinnerware. Furthermore, the use of risers is a very inexpensive way to maximize your vertical cabinet space.
Kitchen Cookware Storage
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I have a whole set of cherry red LeCreuset cookware (and bakeware). I’ve organized all of my cookware in this section of my cabinets. Over the years, I have paired down my cookware items significantly. Purchasing a set of cookware really helped me pair down my collection.
I still have a few areas within my kitchen to organize; however, I do have a plan to get these completed soon.
I hope you find some inspiration here within my kitchen. If you have any organizing tips that you’ve used, please leave them below
